Teens Talk About Fear: The Authors

Hi, Folks,

Welcome to my blog. Before going into details about the book "Teens Talk About Fear," let me first tell you why my sister, Rhonda, and I felt it was so important to write it.

We've always had such a special place in our hearts for young people. And, we've also been writing for quite some time. We've been contributing writers and columnists in numerous feature magazines, content producers for various nationally known entities (CosmoGirl!, Sears Mainframe Fashions for Teens, Boys Town, etc.), and also Channel Producers for Talk City's Online "Teen, Kids and College Communities."

Having worked closely with tousands of teens, both online and in the real world, we are very much in tune with the feelings and emotions that teens face today. Most importantly, we have a strong desire to see kids rise above adversity.

After the horrible incident at Columbine years ago, we saw first hand how kids were affected across the world by this event. Kids were in chat rooms online sharing their thoughts and fears. And trying to comfort one another. It was an incredible thing to experience.

Rhonda and I knew that we had to find a way to help teens today face and overcome their fears. We interviewd hundreds of teens and found that there are 20 prevelant fears that teens face today. This book introduces a different fear in each chapter, and kids are discussing these fears, and how they are trying to deal with them. They offer advice and encouragement to each other in chat room format. We also offer what the Bible has to say about that specific fear. And then a journaling section for your own ideas and thoughts.

We hope that this book will get in the hands of as many teens as possible. They need to know how to empower themselves against fear. And not let fear dominate their lives. It doesn't have to. There is hope.

Please post any of your thoughts. I'd love to hear them. And check out our book on Amazon.com. Or you can order it at your local bookstore.

Hugs to you all,

Renee

  1. How awesome to hear from your heart more!!!

For those who have not read *Teens Talk About Fear* I would suggest it as a great read. It has many stories from youth and relates to their stories in a very positive Christian light.
I spent most of my childhood in a cloud of fears and had no real relation to overcoming them until well into my 20's. I truly believe this to be a very important topic to be addressed with youth today if we are to help them be better citizens of tomorrow.
As for Columbine I was a mere few blocks away that dreadful day and still have my photos from the aftermath. I saw both sides of the story.
